2014-2022: Prognostic/diagnostic trends for euthanized dogs

Beginning in 2017: All dogs killed are labeled “unhealthy and untreatable.”

Comparison of the numbers of dogs on intake at MCAS characterized as “unhealthy and untreatable” relative to the numbers killed afterwards at the end of their stay as “unhealthy and untreatable.”

Beginning in 2018 few dogs are described as “unhealthy and untreatable” on intake, while dramatically more are killed as “unhealthy and untreatable” at the end of their stay. Suggesting that the vast majority of animals in the shelter become “unhealthy and untreatable” when the arrived healthy. This is a reversal of the trend in prior years.
