Update: Jackson; MCAS’ Brutal indifference to handicapped animals

Jackson, ID# 322762

Updated from a prior post.

Subsequent records confirm that Jackson, a loving, happy dog unaware he was handicapped, was promptly killed on the morning of September 05, 2024 for what was called a ‘lack of resources.’ There were humane options, some at MCAS itself.

On August 25, Stumptown Strays had responded that they were unable to take dogs that week but they were not contacted again. And on September 05, a highly regarded veterinarian, founder of a veterinary rehabilitation hospital, asked to foster or adopt Jackson immediately after learning of his plight, and then stopped by MCAS to see if an in person visit was possible and to verify her sincerity in this case.

The manager responded the next day, on September 06. A partial response is noted below; the full response is available upon request.

The decision has already been made and the procedure completed. If you are interested in any further information on his case you can fill out a public records request, information on how to do is located on our website as well.”

Jackson was a good dog, an inspiration to all who knew him and to all who knew his life story. He was failed by a well-funded public agency that no longer follows its advertised  humane mission.
